Spanish Wells, North End Eleuthera

We had a great stay at Hoffman Cay. Friday night got invited to dinner. Janecek's moved in next door on Friday and asked us over for dinner along with a sailboat couple from Colorado. The name of their boat was R and R, for Rednecks and Rum, and he was a redneck. Jeff Janecek made Minnesota hotdish with cauliflower and some wild rice we contributed. A nice evening. Yesterday morning however, we pulled out, to jump the 55-60 miles to Spanish Wells and Eleuthera. I have a hard time staying in one place more than a few days. Once again, as we left the shallows, I deployed lines, and once again, a little early. Had a fish on inside of 10 minutes. I could tell he wasn't as big, and then all of a sudden I was spooling out line like crazy. That happend twice over a 30 second period, then the drag on the line eased. I reeled in the front 1/3 of a 10# barracuda. Shortly after that, in the deep water, I had another fish on, this one was a deep water fish, he jumped several times, and then he was gone. Just got off. The hook and line looked fine. The rest of the trip across was uneventful, found a nice anchorage off a beach last night and moved on to Spanish Wells this morning. We are currently anchored behind an island about three miles from town, all alone, which is what I like the best. Went looking for coral to snorkel, but all we found was sea grass. Tomorrow will probably dinghy into the town tomorrow and restock some perishables and have a later lunch out, depending on weather, but it looks ok today.

Sundown last night, sailboat anchored behind us
